Way Back Wednesday

Babies.
Good lord, everything about them is delicious.
Their tiny little bods, their teeny little fingers and ahhhhh the way they smell; its killer.

I recently visited some friends who just welcomed their precious little boy and let me tell you, I've got baby fever in a bad kinda way. Since I have no newborn baby or one 'on the way', I've managed to make do by reminiscing over pictures of my little lady when she was brand new. Won't you join me?

Two of my friends are expecting little boys in the next few months and I cannot wait to meet them, because of all the wonderful things in this world, there is nothin' sweeter than a tiny little babe.

(Thank you to my mom, aunt and sister for these pictures. I love seeing new pictures of my girl, especially when they bring me back to such a blissful time in my life.)

News flash

In random news, I found an article today called 80 Totally Awesome Things from the 80s.
It's worth scrolling through and watching the videos and commercials if you are looking for a trip to the good old days.
I think I owned just about all of those toys.
I miss being a kid.
A kid from the 80s.

Who remembers Reading Rainbow?
When this show came on my sister and I used to go apeshit.

In food news, I made creme brulee on Tuesday night. I used this recipe. It was runny and since I don't own a blow torch I had to use my oven broiler so the the top wasn't caramelized properly, but it was delicious. I planned to take a photo of the final product but by the time they were finally done (you have to cook and cool them twice!) I went caveman on it.
No photographic evidence.
I love me some creme brulee.

In Quinn news, she likes having showers. I find that some nights blow by and we run out of time for a bath. On those occassions, Simon will take Quinn into the shower with him the next morning and she LOVES it. Her favorite part (according to Simon) is at the end when they have a cuddle. Simon holds her and lets he water spray down on her back. Adorbs.

In baby-making news, I had a full medical checkup at my regular doctor's and apparently I'm healthy. Everything checked out which is both good to hear but also kind of bad . I'm happy that everything is working as it should but that only makes the situation of not keeping a pregnancy that much more of a mystery.

In house news, I found this bedroom photo and although it doesn't show the whole room, I love the layout. Our bedroom is kind of laid out like that right now minus the pretty headboard, nightstands, armchairs, etc. I think this photo will serve as the inspiration for our bedroom furniture layout down the road.

And in music news, nothing makes a crappy day better than listening to Huey Lewis and the News.

And that's all I have for today.

A little bit of both

Some kids look just like one parent.
Some kids are a mix of both.
I believe Quinn falls under the 'mix' category, but I'll let you decide for yourself.

Top left - Yours truly as a little bambina
Bottom left - Little barebumed Simon
Right - Little Miss Quinn

Man, I love that kid.

Who wants to build a fort with me?

Imagine, if for even a day you could return to your childhood?
Go back to living in a world without any cares, worries or responsibilities.
Sounds like heaven, doesn't it?

My day would probably consist of the following:

1) Start the day off right with a heaping bowl of Fruit Loops, Sugar Crisp or Honeycombs cereal
2) Get dressed in my coolest Northern Getaway t-shirt and Umbro soccer shorts
3) Head to the basement and try to beat the entire Super Mario Brothers game
4) Throw the couch cushions on the floor and play the lava game
5) Call up my friends and go for a bike ride
6) Hit up the monkey bars at the park and hang upside-down
7) Get out my colouring books and Crayola markers or better yet, my Scented Mr.Sketch markers and have at it
8) Head over the dollar store and see how far my $5 allowance will go
9) Watch a couple episodes of Ninja Turtles, Duck Tales, The Racoons, Beetlejuice, etc.
10) And finally, I'd cozy up in bed and read Sweet Valley High, Goosebumps, Little House on the Prairie or anything by RL Stine

If anyone knows where I get a time machine so I can be 10 years old again, please let me know.
