Tuuuuuhtles

Our ride home from dinner tonight was entertaining to say the least...

Quinn delighted our senses by singing a song about turtles, or as she says 'tuhtles' while looking at a book about belugas. 

Oh and don't mind my random muttering at the 20 second mark. I started talking to Simon and then remembered I was filming. It's all wine's fault. 

I can't wait to play this video at her wedding.

Perfectly ordinary

When this video showed up on my Facebook feed I casually hit play.
Little did I know it would reduce me to a sopping, snotty mess.

I literally almost drowned in my own tears.
Ok, maybe I'm being a little overdramatic but seriously, it's moving.

  It's so easy to get caught up in getting dinner ready, doing laundry, picking up toys and all the other stupid tasks of life that I sometimes forget that I'll never get this time with my daughter back. She'll never be this age again; doing the things cute little things a toddler does. I decided after watching that video to practice being more in the moment with her.

So here is a snippet of an everyday moment with my baby.
 I'm sure I'll watch this video in twenty years and wish more than anything to be sitting in that chair watching my crazy baby girl run around.

News flash

In random news, I found an article today called 80 Totally Awesome Things from the 80s.

It's worth scrolling through and watching the videos and commercials if you are looking for a trip to the good old days.
I think I owned just about all of those toys.

When this show came on my sister and I used to go apeshit.
 

 In food news, I made creme brulee on Tuesday night. I used this recipe. It was runny and since I don't own a blow torch I had to use my oven broiler so the the top wasn't caramelized properly, but it was delicious. I planned to take a photo of the final product but by the time they were finally done (you have to cook and cool them twice!) I went caveman on it.

No photographic evidence.  
I love me some creme brulee.

 

In Quinn news, she likes having showers. I find that some nights blow by and we run out of time for a bath. On those occassions, Simon will take Quinn into the shower with him the next morning and she LOVES it. Her favorite part (according to Simon) is at the end when they have a cuddle. Simon holds her and lets he water spray down on her back. Adorbs.

 

In baby-making news, I had a full medical checkup at my regular doctor's and apparently I'm healthy. Everything checked out which is both good to hear but also kind of bad . I'm happy that everything is working as it should but that only makes the situation of not keeping a pregnancy that much more of a mystery.

In house news, I found this bedroom photo and although it doesn't show the whole room, I love the layout. Our bedroom is kind of laid out like that right now minus the pretty headboard, nightstands, armchairs, etc. I think this photo will serve as the inspiration for our bedroom furniture layout down the road.

Giggle Pops

Ever since she was a teeny-weeny baby, Quinn has ALWAYS gotten hiccups after a big, hearty belly laugh. I LOVE hearing those hiccups.

So, since its a gloomy, snowy Friday over here and I'm lacking all forms of motivation, I thought I would share a few videos of my baby playing in her crooked diaper and laughing to the point of hiccups.

 

It brightened my day and now hopefully yours too.

Little tease

One of Quinn's favourite things to do is tease the dogs. Every day she walks over to the pantry, pulls down a box of crackers and brings it to me for a cracker. She then shows the dogs her treat and runs away. Last night she discovered the dining room curtains make a great hiding spot. Dogs can't see behind curtains right?

Oh and in case you were wondering, Quinn demanded I put on her coat, shoes AND tutu. I guess I missed the memo about dress-up night.

Snow Day Extraordinaire!

Ottawa was literally dumped on with snow.
30 centimetres to be exact. 

 I opted to stay home today instead of driving five hours to get to work.
Simon brought Quinn to daycare as usual so I had the day to myself. 

Did I accomplish much? 

Well if you don't count:

- blogging

- watching The Food Network

- eating Almond Slices (stay tuned for the recipe!)

- taking a ridiculously long shower followed by a bathroom dance party 

Than NO I didn't. 

But if you do, than I seriously rocked all the above items. 

It was glorious. 

For some reason when I'm showering and getting ready, there is nothing that want to hear more than gangster music. 

Before you gawk at me, let me explain. 

I DO NOT agree with ANY of the lyrics in most rap songs. But to be honest, I don't even really listen to the lyrics. My question to the world is, if rap music is so wrong, why is it so damn catchy?! 

I LOVE a good beat, so for any of you rappers reading this blog (pshhh) can you try to rap about nice things like rainbows, sunshine, candy or puppies so I can listen to it around my one year old? Thanks. 

But until that fateful day comes, I only listen to it when I'm alone in the car or at home alone in the shower.

Anyways, I've decided to screw my to-do list and just see where life takes us today.

  I've seen this video about a hundred times but it still makes me laugh hysterically. Pet of the week is a tough gig, Pinky. I get it.   UPDATE - I put up a bad version of the video. Check the new one out!   Exciting news... as of Wednesday, I get my husband back!!! He's been VERY busy working on his Masters of Sociology and Statistics and his final paper of the semester is due tomorrow. Yesterday he got back one of his assignments and he got 104 %. Crazy!
