A Room for Little Mister

I am all about window shopping for inspiration but am very bad at pulling the trigger and getting stuff done. Case in point, Quinn's room. Actually case in point, my entire house.

I have half projects lying around, new projects ready to get started and a head full of new ideas. What I lack are time, motivation and skillz. Hmpf.

So I have decided that my mission in life right now aside from 1) keeping a 2.5 year old alive and happy 2) growing another human being and 3) personally surviving, is finally getting shit done.

With a tiny human getting ready to join the world in four short months its high time a room for little man is started.

So today, I give you my inspiration for little mister's room.

I shall call it "Totally Nautical Dude"

My initial inspiration came from this:

And then I saw this wall and knew I had to do some thing similar:

But instead of dots, let's make em gold anchors.
Yeahhhhh baby.

Orrrrr maybe some gold stars?

And while we're at it, let's add some bookshelves like this:

Or just full out copy my faves over at Young House Love and add some built-ins?

Cute, right?!

BABY JUMPING IS A ...

BOY!!!

I'm honestly still in shock.
I guess I convinced myself I was carrying a girl, so when I saw that blue icing inside, I was very, very surprised!

I think its fair to say the nub theory is maybe not as sound as I had thought it to be...

Needless to say, we are all thrilled and can't wait to meet this little guy in July!

Now onto party details!

Our gender reveal party was SO MUCH FUN!

We decided once everyone arrived, to have them vote either Team Boy or Team Girl.

To help them make a decision, I had printed off a list of Old Wives tales and my answers.
Of the 20 questions, my answers came back:
Girl = 15
Boy = 2
Inconclusive = 3

With those answers and their own predictions in mind, the votes came back 9:5 in favour of Team Boy.

And then we got to eating...

Before:

In perhaps a twist of fate, the three of us coincidentally grabbed blue cupcakes...

During:

After:

Oh and at the very moment we found out, my adorable sister cued up this song:

She said if it had been pink icing she would have played:

Like I said, she's adorable.

BOY OH BOY!!!

It was such a fun night and great way for us to share the news with our families.
Now that we know what Baby Jumping is, we are so excited to finally be able to start planning, decorating and shopping for this special little guy.

30 Baby Things I Just Can't Handle Right Now...

With one day to go before Baby Jumping’s gender is revealed, I have taken the time curate a small gallery of baby clothes that I frankly just can’t handle right now.

Ladies first:

And now little gents:

And of course gender neutrals:

Baby Gap and Old Navy should probably just take my pay cheques directly from now on, because really, who needs food when you have the toes of an adorably dressed baby to munch on all day?

C'mon February 21st!

As I excitedly explained here, we are planning on having a little gender reveal party for Baby Jumping and I am happy to report that the details of said event have been confirmed, family members have been invited and the bakery has been notified!!!

 OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

We are ordering the cupcakes from The Flour Shoppe, whom I've ordered from many times, including for our wedding. Their cupcakes are not only DELICIOUS but GORGEOUS too.
I mean c'mon, just look at these sample gender reveal cupcakes...

 I am dying with anticipation!!!
I sure hope this baby cooperates at our ultrasound on the 19th!

C'mon February 21st!

Boy or Girl???

Sooooooooo I might be a little bit excited to find out just what the heck I'm baking.
Waiting another 2 weeks until the next ultrasound is just too long for this mama bear.
So naturally I turned to google for early gender prediction methods.
Here's one method that seemed kinda legit.

The Nub Theory

Apparently all babies by 12 weeks will have this little nub at the base of their spines. Depending on the angle of said nub, you can determine the sex of your little nugget.

For comparison sake, here's Quinn's mug shot:

And here's little Baby Jumping:

Based on what I see above, my prediction is girl, although I've felt very differently this pregnancy than I did with Quinn. Nausea, vomiting, headaches, crazy mood swings, etc. so perhaps this nibblet is a little gent?
It will be interesting to see if this 'nub theory' is right or not...

Our plan is to have a little gender reveal party with our families once we have our anomaly scan in a few weeks. We plan on having the sonographer write down the bump's sex and we'll drop that off at a local bakery.
We'll all bite into a cupcake and see either blue or pink icing.

OMGOMGOMGOMG.
SO.EXCITED.
What do you think the bump is???

Hi!

A little someone wants to say hi.
FINALLY.

Meet, as Quinn has so elegantly named,
“Baby Jumping”!
Due to arrive smack dab in the middle of summer.
We absolutely cannot wait.

Quinn as you can see above, is absolutely smitten.
“Baby Jumping” is the center of many of our conversations with Quinn lately. He/she gets daily belly rubs from Big Sister as well as kisses and ‘raspberries’. We recently had another ultrasound and got a second picture of ‘Jumping’. Needless to say, Big Sister claimed it as her own and has it in her favorite frame in her room.

Annnddd that my friends is the sound of my heart blowing up.
How I will handle the cuteness overload that will inevitably occur when “Baby Jumping” is born and united with Big Sister is beyond me…

After a year and half of trying-for-number-two-misery, we have finally been blessed with a healthy, strong and seemingly happy little fetus.

Now officially in the second trimester at 14 weeks, I'm starting to feel like a normal human being again.
Still exhausted, but no longer running to the toilet...

Yeah, it's been real this time.
Around 8 weeks the nausea.
And not just I feel nauseous, but legit running to the throne nauseous.

Meat = barf
Simon's daily nosebleeds from the extreme cold/dryness = barf
Bathroom smells = barf
Clementine oranges ?! = barf

Fun times...
But totally worth it.

So keep up the good work Baby Jumping!
You have an super-awesome Big Sis who already adores you, an amazingly fun Daddy and a Mommy who would happily endure another six months of crazy morning/all day sickness just for you. Oh, and how could I forget your two fur-siblings, who look forward to having another sticky, food covered child to kiss and love on.

We are completely over the moon.
