New words: happy, party, Isla, Lyla, bird, ball, bubbles, boots
The little girls at daycare have started potty training and you are
apparently right there watching and listening. You know the potty means pee pee and poo poo
but you aren’t quite ready to sit on the potty.
Last month you learned how to climb onto the couch, this month you like
jumping on it. You’ve had a few falls but they haven’t broken your daredevil
spirit.
Your face when you see a bird in the yard.
You love spotting birds in the yard. Since we live in newly developed
neighbourhood, we don’t have many trees and therefore not many birds hanging
around. Sometimes a robin will land in our backyard and hunt for worms and you
go nuts. We are hoping the birdhouse your granddad made for you will attract
some different bird friends. Geese have also chosen the field across from our
house as their new spring home and your eyes light up when you see and hear
them overhead.
The parks by our house are visited almost daily and sometimes more. You
love playing with the other children and are always so excited to see them as
we walk up to the park. The other day you were playing with a group of four
year old girls building a sand fort and they were being so sweet to you. They
kept saying “good job” and “thank you for helping us” when you would scoop sand
into their bucket. I almost broke down into tears right then and there. I
wanted to run up and give all those girls a big hug and tell them how grateful
I was they were including you in their game.
You love ketchup. We made the mistake of letting you dip your eggs in
ketchup on Daddy’s plate. You dipped a few times then ditched the eggs and
instead started eating spoonfuls of ketchup. Anytime we have a squeeze bottle
of any description on the table now, you beg for it.
You love chocolate milk but really who doesn’t? Rarely do I buy
chocolate milk but when I saw it on sale recently I couldn’t pass it up. When I
passed by you with a glass of it you gave me a quizzical little look so I let
you have a sip. Your entire face changed. I knew I had made a terrible mistake.
“Hello, my name is Quinn and my mommy just made me a chocoholic.”
You love peanut butter. I give you little pitas with pb on them for
breakfast and you just devour them. Sometimes you’ll sit there and meticulously
remove all the peanut butter and toss the pita down to the dogs. Sneaky girl.
You seem to be getting less picky about eating veggies as long as they
are covered in some sort of tasty sauce (KNOCK ON WOOD!).
Your Auntie Robin gave you some books for Easter and you’ve taken a
liking to one in particular. The Three Billy Goats Gruff is read at least ten
times a day. Your mission each time is to point out the troll, who you’ve named
Papa, no matter how small he is on the page.
Your new thing in the bath is lying on your belly. You think it’s
hilarious.
Your eye teeth are coming in and based on your mood these days it’s not
fun.
18 months.
A year and a half.
I still can't believe it.
You may not be a baby in the eyes of the world anymore but to me you will always be my little nugget.
xo, Mama
