Tuuuuuhtles

Our ride home from dinner tonight was entertaining to say the least...

Quinn delighted our senses by singing a song about turtles, or as she says 'tuhtles' while looking at a book about belugas.

Oh and don't mind my random muttering at the 20 second mark. I started talking to Simon and then remembered I was filming. It's all wine's fault.

I can't wait to play this video at her wedding.

Quinn at 18 months

New words: happy, party, Isla, Lyla, bird, ball, bubbles, boots

The little girls at daycare have started potty training and you are apparently right there watching and listening. You know the potty means pee pee and poo poo but you aren’t quite ready to sit on the potty.

Last month you learned how to climb onto the couch, this month you like jumping on it. You’ve had a few falls but they haven’t broken your daredevil spirit.

Your face when you see a bird in the yard.

You love spotting birds in the yard. Since we live in newly developed neighbourhood, we don’t have many trees and therefore not many birds hanging around. Sometimes a robin will land in our backyard and hunt for worms and you go nuts. We are hoping the birdhouse your granddad made for you will attract some different bird friends. Geese have also chosen the field across from our house as their new spring home and your eyes light up when you see and hear them overhead.

The parks by our house are visited almost daily and sometimes more. You love playing with the other children and are always so excited to see them as we walk up to the park. The other day you were playing with a group of four year old girls building a sand fort and they were being so sweet to you. They kept saying “good job” and “thank you for helping us” when you would scoop sand into their bucket. I almost broke down into tears right then and there. I wanted to run up and give all those girls a big hug and tell them how grateful I was they were including you in their game.

You love ketchup. We made the mistake of letting you dip your eggs in ketchup on Daddy’s plate. You dipped a few times then ditched the eggs and instead started eating spoonfuls of ketchup. Anytime we have a squeeze bottle of any description on the table now, you beg for it.

You love chocolate milk but really who doesn’t? Rarely do I buy chocolate milk but when I saw it on sale recently I couldn’t pass it up. When I passed by you with a glass of it you gave me a quizzical little look so I let you have a sip. Your entire face changed. I knew I had made a terrible mistake. “Hello, my name is Quinn and my mommy just made me a chocoholic.”

You love peanut butter. I give you little pitas with pb on them for breakfast and you just devour them. Sometimes you’ll sit there and meticulously remove all the peanut butter and toss the pita down to the dogs. Sneaky girl.

You seem to be getting less picky about eating veggies as long as they are covered in some sort of tasty sauce (KNOCK ON WOOD!).

Your Auntie Robin gave you some books for Easter and you’ve taken a liking to one in particular. The Three Billy Goats Gruff is read at least ten times a day. Your mission each time is to point out the troll, who you’ve named Papa, no matter how small he is on the page.

Your new thing in the bath is lying on your belly. You think it’s hilarious.

Your eye teeth are coming in and based on your mood these days it’s not fun.

18 months.
A year and a half.
 I still can't believe it.
You may not be a baby in the eyes of the world anymore but to me you will always be my little nugget.

Perfectly ordinary

When this video showed up on my Facebook feed I casually hit play.
Little did I know it would reduce me to a sopping, snotty mess.
I literally almost drowned in my own tears.
Ok, maybe I'm being a little overdramatic but seriously, it's moving.

It's so easy to get caught up in getting dinner ready, doing laundry, picking up toys and all the other stupid tasks of life that I sometimes forget that I'll never get this time with my daughter back. She'll never be this age again; doing the things cute little things a toddler does. I decided after watching that video to practice being more in the moment with her.

So here is a snippet of an everyday moment with my baby.
I'm sure I'll watch this video in twenty years and wish more than anything to be sitting in that chair watching my crazy baby girl run around.

Easter Festivities

I love Easter; always have.
It was my second favorite holiday to Christmas as a child.

A few weekends ago, my friends and I had an Easter brunch.
Mimosas, decadent breakfast foods, adorable babies, beautiful friends and a sunny sky.
 What could be better?

YUM!

Silly Easter decorations

Baby BFFs

Reading time!

This past weekend was a busy one indeed!

On Good Friday, Quinn and I went to my Aunt and Uncle's house.
Aunt Bunny and Wing Rider's parties are always a great time.

On Saturday, my sister and I took off to Watertown, N.Y. for a day of Target shopping.
Man, I love that store.

On Sunday, Simon and I hosted Easter dinner.
Since we were fifteen people, we decided on a more casual format and laid out the food buffet-style. And I may have over done it with two hams but I love me some ham and pea soup. Quinn had a great time hunting down all her Easter eggs and scarfed down the gummy bunnies hidden inside.

Monday was our rest day. Oh and my give ten vials of blood day.
You know you're in for a treat when the nurse ask you if you are good at having bloodtests.
Fun times.

Meanwhile, Quinn was busy being adorable and troublesome.

I did not stage this, I swear.
She put on her own hat and purses but apparently forgot about pants.
What a lady!

This child gives me multiple heart attacks a day.
Anyone know where I can find a pint-sized bubble to keep her in?

Just a kiddo in a bucket.

How Quinn tells me naptime is over.
